LIBRARY PILARÍN BAYÉS IN VIC WINNER OF ARCHELLO AWARDS

The main volume moves backwards from the street alignment to create an open space in front.  This space turns into a public garden and becomes fundamental for the organization of the whole building.  It will also become the memorial space of the victims of a terrorist attack that happened in this place many years ago.

The slope of the garden also allows bringing light and views to the underground level.

The library is conceived as a civic multipurpose public building full of different activities that go beyond culture and reading. Each person or group will be able to find in the building a personal, comfortable, specific and special space.
